Welcome to ginkoya. The name comes from the "Ginko Nut Tree", so prevalent and beautiful in Japan.

We are an internet "Shop" that sells Japanese Crafts and Antiques. This webstore came out of the desire to share the beauty of Japanese Craft Design with the rest of the world.

There is a special sense about Japanese Crafts, the colors, materials and way of thinking. I am a designer and my wife is Japanese, trained in classical Japanese Painting, and a Tea Ceremony teacher We both share a love of traditional materials found in Japan.

We spend a lot of time going to auctions, and Flea Markets, scouring the back alleys of Japan to find unique items. Japan is filled with a rich heritage of superb craftsmanship from the mundane to the sublime. Meals are a work of art, and their presentation is carefully choreographed. Our desire is, to share what we love with you so that in your home you can achieve a bit of Japanese-ness to evoke that special ambiance that says Japan.

If you have a special desire for something from Japan, a kimono, obi, objects of "Tea Ceremony", Special fabrics, etc, please contact us and maybe we can find just what you are looking for.

Thank you for visiting our site. We hope you will be pleased and inspired.

The doorway of a shrine is transformed into a momentary work of art through the display of a few beautiful white and yellow paper umbrellas.
